Songs You Will Like Vol. I

As a new installment at Tallest Tree, I've decided to come out with a list of five of six tracks each week that I'm feeling at the time. Obviously from the title, they'll mostly be songs that everyone will enjoy, but it's a difficult task to please all of the people all of the time. Give me feedback if you guys like the tracks and I'm always open to suggestions. Ok, here's Volume I.

Guru Josh Project - Infinity (Klaas Vocal Edit)

As cheesy as the spoken words are throughout this song, you can't help but feel the positive vibe that powers this song. I would be lying if I said I didn't play this song on repeat while driving alone with the windows down.

Chiddy Bang - Kids

Such a pleasant mix of MGMT's massive hit, I like the change of styles...reminds me of Wiz Khalifa's "Say Yeah" refix of Alice Deejay's techno anthem.

Dragonette - I Get Around (Midnight Juggernaut Mix)

The lead singer of Dragonette has a voice that I just can't get out of my head, the song is somewhat repetitive and only includes one verse, but the beat puts me in a great mood.

Lil' Wayne Ft. Kanye West, T.I. & Jay-Z - U Ain't Neva Gottz Ask (George Michaels Sample)

Don't get too excited from the line up, it's no Swagga Like Us... The verses are recycled from previous songs by all the artists but the beat is siiiiick. Props to Pretty Much Amazing for the link to the track and Dem Joints Production for the track.

Chromeo x Bag Raiders - Call Me Up (Shooting Stars Overdub)

Anyone who was around me at school knows that I bump this song way too often...too good. Sounds way better over the Bag Raiders beat, download the original and tell me it doesn't I DARE YOU.

Katy Perry - Waking Up In Vegas (Calvin Harris Remix Edit)

I've always backed Katy Perry's voice, although I despise her overplayed pop songs. Calvin Harris knows how to make a hot beat and Katy's voice sounds great overtop...The lyrics contain a conventional girl-pop disaster story while relating it somehow to a hungover morning in Vegas, and are somewhat stupid, but whatever, enjoy.

LMFAO - La La LA (Death To The Throne Remix)

I'm only throwing this song on the list because my boy R forced me to listen to it until I admitted I enjoyed it. Feel free to do the same to yourself and your friends haha Peaaaace Marc R

DAFT PUNK REMIX AFTER ALL////

In case you haven't been reading any other music blogs... 10 blogs just congregated to release an unofficial remix album of solely Daft Punk songs. Each blog chose their own producer, who chose a single track and remixed it like crazy. If you like Daft Punk, you will probably enjoy this. You can find the finished product here

LIGHTS OUT REMIX...Yapes or Napes?

Which remix do you prefer? Or do you hate both of them? I personally take the DJ Mehdi version, but that's only because it remains true to the originally track and only adds a little more bass and other minor tweaks. I just heard the Tepr Emo mix this morning and decided to put the two head to head. Lemme Know!

Song ID'd FINALLY!

A little while back, I went down to The Social to check out Conor Cutz and John Roman. As usual, the people were energetic, the drinks were cheap ($2.00 shots before 11:30 & $100 bottles) and the music was bumping so hard you could feel it in your chest. Anyways, about halfway through John Roman's incredible set, he threw on one of the sickest tracks I have ever heard. As soon as the song dropped, the whole crowd went crazy (including myself) and I knew I had to find out who made this ridiculous track. Unfortunately, it had no discernable lyrics that I could memorize and google at a later date, and after failing to identify it on my buddy R's phone using Shazam, I became a little rattled.

Still though, as I left Social later on, I thought that certainly the mighty blog aggregator that is HypeM would certainly have the track that was burned into my brain. I soon realized that searching for a song on the hype machine when all you have is the sound in your head makes it a nearly impossible task. With no artist and no track title, searching any blog was almost totally useless.
I finally e-mailed John Roman himself, and was faced with the task of describing the sounds that were stuck in my head and basically torturing me since I had seen him dj.
This was the only description that I could think of to describe the track:

"The song I speak of starts with a high pitched synth sound that slowly bends down in pitch, then a higher note of the same sound comes in and drops down in the same manner. From there, the track goes absolutely crazy and it's been stuck in my head ever since."

John's response to my limited description blew my mind, as he knew exactly what I was talking about!

"Haha I believe the track you speak of is "drop the pressure" (jack beats remix)
If I get that right then... Wow haha
All the best bro,
-John"

Wow is right. How the hell could you even suggest a song based upon what I said?!?! Anyways, the track is Mylo - Drop the Pressure (Jack Beats Remix) and you really have to crank your volume to the fullest to appreciate it. Being in a crowded area full of high-energy hipsters and house-heads will also add to the experience. Also, be sure to check out John Roman's myspace at http://www.myspace.com/johnromandj. His track "Wreck the Discotek" and remix of Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Heads Will Roll" are absolutely insane.

If you are interested in getting guest list or bottle service at The Social on Monday nights, contact Joshua Chitiz at 416-846-5626 or jchitiz@gmail.com. He's just as friendly and informative as John Roman, if not even more!

Enjoy the track and lemme know what you think! Build starts at 0:49 and the madness enters at 1:00...

Passion Pit Is Just Great

Sooooo I got an advance copy of Manners (Passion Pit's new CD that will be out on the 19th) and I must say, I am quite impressed. I was introduced to Passion Pit after listening to the remix of Sleepyhead by Wallpaper. Dio, which is possibly one of the best remixes I have heard of that track. I then heard "little secrets" and the Calvin Harris remix of "The Reeling". I was unsure of how much exactly I would like listening to an entire CD of Passion Pit, simply because the lead singer's voice can get somewhat repetitive (or at least I imagined after listening to the three aforementioned tracks).

How wrong I was.

"Manners" is completely different from how I imagined. There are a variety of different moods on the cd, and I actually really enjoyed listening to it from start to finish (which is very rare, at least for me). So far, the track "Eyes as Candles" has been stuck in my head the most, and it is a far cry from the relatively upbeat melody of "Sleepyhead". The combination of sounds that Passion Pit uses in almost every single one of their songs is very appealing, even though you wouldn't think the sounds would harmonize in the way they do. The slow brass instruments underneath the high synth on "Eyes as Candles" blew me away, and forms this new sound that I really haven't heard before.

Anyways, grab the album when it comes out on the 19th and if you like the songs I've mentioned, you will love the whole cd.

Here's the video for "The Reeling" proving that Passion Pit knows not only how to make amazingly fresh music, but that they can also create fresh new videos as well.

New Traaaaaaaaaacks (AOKI EDITION)

4 Bangers from Steve Aoki @ Dim Mak Records. He just remixed N.A.S.A.'s "Gifted"and it's pretty ill. Kanye has the first verse on it and I like the little tweaks that Aoki added. Here's the stream

Also, here's another Aoki track that's been burning in my brain for the last two weeks. As some of you may know, a duo by the name of Chester French are in the process of blowing up after a massive bidding war over them by Pharrell and Kanye. To have those two fighting over you must be ridiculous, and if you check out their mixtape "Jacques Jams Vol. 1" you will be even more impressed by the obscene line-up of features. Pusha T from Clipse, Pharrell, Lady Gaga, Jermaine Dupri, Bun B and Talib Kweli????!?! How did this happen so quickly?!?! Besides my burning jealousy, you should definitely check out Chester French as their mixtape is free, and also DL this remix of "She Loves Everybody" by Aoki

Thirdly, check out one of my all-time favourite Aoki remixes of Good Charlotte's "Misery" and turn your speakers up to the max for the drop

Finally, enjoy this remix of All-American Rejects "The Wind Blows" by the Dim Mak legend himself. I don't know if I like it more than the Bloody Beetroots version of "Gives You Hell" but whatever, both are pretty amazing. Enjoy

Bloody Beetroots x Proxy is going to be SICK

NEW BEETROOTS! The track isn't available yet but it's been tagged as Proxy - Who Are You? (Bloody Beetroots Remix). This vid is from The Button Factory in Dublin, Ireland on April 25th, so I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of this track on either Hypem or another random blog. If you find a zshare link please let me know! The clip is short but shows the stage presence and effect on the audience that the Beetroots have.

NEW COOL KIDS MIXTAPE!!!!

The new Cool Kids Mixtape just hit the streets yesterday! I was a big fan of their EP, "The Bake Sale" and I'm stoked for their LP to drop later on this year but in the meantime I'll have to enjoy this Don Cannon mixtape. It's free to DL, so take advantage of it and blast it with the windows down.

Aziz Ansari is Hilarious

You've probably seen Aziz Ansari in Observe and Report with Seth Rogen or in his new show with Amy Poehler called "Parks and Rec". The characters he plays in the previously mentioned shows pale in comparison to his "Randy" character that will appear in Adam Sandler's new movie "Funny People". This clip is Aziz trying out his Randy character on a live audience, which caused me to literally laugh for the better part of an hour. Hope you guys find it as funny.

WHAT UP

Woooooooo, finally got the blog started after procrastinating for so long! I thought this would be a great way to inform others of amazing music, events and the many other things I witness on a day-to-day basis. Enjoy, and any suggestions as to how I can make this blog better are greatly appreciated!

I'll leave you guys with a little mash-up I made a while back of Ratatat's "Wildcat" underneath Notorious B.I.G.'s "Party & Bullshit". I know Ratatat already made a remix of this track, but I really liked the feel of the Wildcat beat a lot more than the one they used. The mix still needs some polishing but whatever, hope you kids like it.

I'll be back tomorrow with new music, new vids and new links.
